Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) recently reported a record-breaking passenger traffic of over 3.2 million in 2023, marking the highest figure in its history. The airport anticipates another surge in passenger count for the current year.
In a press release from PSP, it was revealed that the exact passenger count for 2023 stood at 3,237,325, indicating an almost 9% increase from the 2,981,844 recorded in 2022. The airport also set eight new monthly passenger records during the same year. As for projections for 2024, PSP is off to a promising start with an expected passenger count of more than 650,000 in the first quarter.
Airport Commission Chair Aftab Dada said in the press release: “It comes as no surprise that Palm Springs International Airport has once again broken its own record for passenger traffic.” He added that this robust response from passengers attests to the unique experience that only PSP can deliver.
According to a separate press release from PSP issued in August 2023, significant updates have been made to its facilities. These include remodeling of the Bono concourse, complete renovation of all three existing airport restaurants and a revamp of retail venues. While the Bono concourse project is slated for completion early this year, renovations on restaurants are expected to conclude by late 2024. Additionally, three new eateries and two coffee shops will be introduced at the airport.
Executive Director of Aviation Harry Barrett Jr., shared his outlook on future developments: “Looking ahead, we are laying the groundwork for future growth through an innovative terminal expansion concept and Master Plan process.” Barrett expressed eagerness towards exceeding expectations in 2024 and ensuring an unrivaled experience in air travel.
