Deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff Station responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision near Dunes View Road and Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage on August 3, 2025, at approximately 10:27 pm. When deputies arrived, they found a pedestrian trapped under a vehicle with major injuries. The individual was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity until next of kin are notified.

The Palm Desert Station Traffic Team took over the investigation at the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that the pedestrian was crossing Highway 111 outside of a crosswalk when struck by several vehicles. All drivers involved remained at the scene, and investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors for any of them.

The incident led to the temporary closure of both Highway 111 and Dunes View Road; both roads have since reopened.

Authorities continue to investigate and encourage anyone with information about this incident to contact Deputy Josh Robertson at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station at 760–836–1600.
