The Riverside Sheriff’s Office, Perris Station, has announced it will conduct a DUI checkpoint on August 29, 2025. The checkpoint will operate from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in the area.
According to the department, locations for these checkpoints are selected based on data that indicate where impaired driving-related crashes have occurred. The main goal is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Sergeant Jeremy Bracey said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”
Authorities remind residents that impairment is not limited to alcohol consumption; some prescription and over-the-counter medications can also affect a person’s ability to drive safely. In addition, while both medicinal and recreational marijuana use are legal in California, driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal.
Individuals convicted of a first-time DUI offense face average fines and penalties totaling $13,500 and may also have their driver’s license suspended.
The program is funded through a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
