The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in Perris, California, is set to conduct DUI patrols on June 20, 2025. The patrols will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight and aim to identify drivers suspected of driving under the influence.
“Impaired driving is preventable,” stated Sergeant Jeremy Bracey. “It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places.”
The Sheriff’s Station emphasized that impaired driving is not limited to alcohol consumption. Certain prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs can also affect one’s ability to drive safely. They advise individuals to adhere to usage instructions and heed warnings about operating vehicles while medicated. Additionally, while marijuana use is legal for medicinal and recreational purposes, driving under its influence remains illegal.
Drivers found guilty of impaired driving face significant consequences. A first-time DUI charge could result in fines and penalties averaging $13,500, along with a suspended license.
This enforcement program receives funding through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
