Congressman Ken Calvert of California’s 41st district has expressed his support for the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Resolution, which he voted to approve. The congressman issued a statement emphasizing the importance of extending the 2017 tax cuts, set to expire at the end of 2025. According to Calvert, failing to extend these cuts could result in an average tax increase of $3,636 for California taxpayers.

Calvert stated, “The last thing my constituents can afford right now is a massive tax increase, which is exactly what will happen if Congress fails to extend the 2017 tax cuts when they expire at the end of 2025.” He added that if Democrats prevent the extension, it would force working families to contribute more financially when they are least able to do so.

The resolution does not propose any reductions in federal programs. Calvert clarified his stance by saying, “I want to make it clear that I do not support cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and the safety net programs our vulnerable Americans rely on.” He advocates for identifying savings through eliminating waste and fraud across various programs.

Additionally, the budget aligns with former President Trump’s border security initiatives. It allocates resources for hiring additional Border Patrol agents and completing border wall construction. “We must return law and order to our immigration system as well as stop the flow of deadly drugs across our border,” Calvert remarked.

Furthermore, resources within the resolution aim to bolster America’s military capabilities. This includes ensuring that military personnel have access to necessary tools for maintaining national security advantages.
