The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has announced the appointment of Nicole Windom-Hurd as director of Child Support Services. This position had been vacant since December, following the promotion of former director Kim Britt to another role within the county’s Human Services Department.

As stated in a Riverside County press release, Windom-Hurd brings 23 years of experience in public service and child support services to her new role. She has worked in executive positions in both the Department of Child Support Services and the Office of County Counsel. Since 2018, she has served as assistant director for Child Support Services, where her responsibilities included implementing goals, objectives, work standards and policies. In addition to her new role, Windom-Hurd also serves on several committees within the Child Support Director’s Association.

According to the same press release, Windom-Hurd holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, sociology and diversity studies and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Board Chair Chuck Washington expressed his confidence in Windom-Hurd’s abilities stating that “Nicole’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to support families and ensure the well-being of children in our community. Her deep understanding of the department’s operations and her commitment to improving the lives of children make her an ideal fit for this role.”

In response to her appointment, Windom-Hurd said: “I understand the importance child support plays in the lives of families. I believe strongly in the work done by child support professionals to ensure the financial and medical needs of families are met.”

Riverside County’s website outlines that their Department of Child Support Services is responsible for ensuring that children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support. The services provided by this department include enforcing court orders for child support and health coverage. Its offices are located in Riverside, Indio and Blythe.
