Riverside County authorities arrest suspect in Rancho Mirage attempted homicide

Deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to an assault with a deadly weapon near Bob Hope Drive and Country Club Drive in Rancho Mirage on September 27, 2025, at around 1:00 a.m. According to witnesses, a person with a gunshot wound was being given medical aid when an unidentified Hispanic male assaulted the victim again. Both the victim and the suspect left the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Deputies later found the victim in a nearby community. The victim was taken to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. The Palm Desert Investigations Bureau took over the investigation.

With support from the Riverside County Gang Task Force Region-1 and the Palm Desert Station Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team, investigators identified Jesse Romero, a 27-year-old from Palm Springs, as the suspect.

On October 10, 2025, at about 1:00 a.m., members of the Riverside County Gang Impact Team found Romero in the 28000 block of Landau Boulevard in Cathedral City. He was arrested without incident and booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on charges of attempted homicide.
