Riverside County Coroner identifies man killed in Desert Center roadway incident

The Riverside Sheriff’s Office announced on Apr. 26 that Juan Catalan Castro, a 28-year-old man from Anaheim, died following an incident on a roadway in Desert Center, California.

According to the coroner’s press release, Catalan Castro sustained fatal injuries at approximately 9:05 p.m. on Apr. 24. He was pronounced dead at the scene at about 9:54 p.m. The location of both the injury and death was listed as a roadway near coordinates 34.063243, -115.192939 in Desert Center.

Officials said that next of kin have been notified regarding Catalan Castro’s death.

The California Highway Patrol office in Indio is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident under case number 2604424IC0310. Authorities have directed all inquiries to the investigating agency.

No further details about the cause or nature of the incident were provided in this release.
