On August 20, 2025, authorities responded to a reported drowning near the 50200 block of Ehrenberg Poston Highway in Ehrenberg, Arizona. The La Paz County Sheriff’s Office requested help at approximately 3:48 p.m., prompting deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff’s Station, the Sheriff’s Interdiction K9 Unit, and Blythe Police to search for the victim.

A Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy used a civilian’s personal watercraft to assist in the search along the river. The deputy found the victim submerged and unresponsive just north of the I-10 bridge on the California side. After bringing the victim to shore, the deputy performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. Paramedics stabilized the individual before airlifting them to a local hospital where they remained in critical condition.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Colorado River Station stated its commitment to community safety and encouraged safe practices on waterways. Questions about boating or details about this incident can be directed to Sgt. Berryman of the Marine Enforcement Unit at (760) 921-7900.
