The Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District (RivCoParks) has unveiled a new outdoor equity initiative aimed at fostering community engagement, promoting outdoor recreation, and bridging the nature gap. The RivCoParks Library Pass program provides Riverside County residents with an opportunity to explore both the outdoors and their local libraries.

In an April 17 press release issued by RivCoParks, it was revealed that the pass is a product of a partnership between RivCoParks and local libraries. This pass allows holders to gain complimentary admission to outdoor recreational facilities, which include hiking trails, picnic areas, and nature preserves.

RivCoParks stated that the pass program is designed to address disparities in outdoor recreation participation. It further noted that the complimentary structure of the pass eliminates financial barriers that might prevent people from engaging in outdoor activities.

According to the release, the launch of the pass coincides with Earth Month’s celebration. Every April, Earth Month brings attention to environmental awareness and appreciation for nature.

Endorsed by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), RivCoParks is committed to preserving the region’s natural beauty by providing unmatched recreational opportunities for both residents and visitors, as stated on the district’s website.
