The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office will conduct DUI patrols in Eastvale on January 9, 2026. The operation is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with deputies looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence.
“Impaired driving is preventable,” Deputy Vawter said. “It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places.”
Officials emphasize that impairment is not limited to alcohol. Certain prescription and over-the-counter medications may affect driving ability, and users are advised to follow usage instructions and heed warning labels. While marijuana is legal for medicinal and recreational use in California, it remains illegal to drive under its influence.
Drivers arrested for DUI may face fines and penalties averaging $13,500 and could have their licenses suspended.
The program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, provided through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
