On July 29, 2025, a deputy from the Riverside Sheriff’s K9 Unit stopped an adult male motorcyclist on Redlands Boulevard near San Timoteo Canyon Road in the unincorporated Beaumont area. According to the department, when asked about weapons, the man became uncooperative and fled toward a nearby residence. The deputy pursued him while issuing commands to stop and raise his hands.

The statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said, “The male produced a firearm, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.”

Deputies provided medical assistance after the suspect was struck by gunfire until paramedics arrived. The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. No deputies were injured during the incident. Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity.

The department added, “The involved deputy will be placed on paid administrative leave according to department policy. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details will be released at this time.”

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Force Investigation Detail is leading the inquiry into this event. The agency has requested that anyone with information contact California Highway Patrol Detective Danny Kavert or Riverside County Sheriff’s Investigator Scott Anderson at 951–955–2777.

“Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Force Investigation Detail will lead this investigation, which is active and ongoing,” according to officials.
