Riverside County Sheriff investigates double fatal shooting in Mead Valley

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 15 that two people were found dead following a shooting at a residence in the 20900 block of Verta Street, Mead Valley, late Saturday night.

Authorities said deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at approximately 9:52 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Guadalupe Laborin, 56, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Laborin was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies also found Laborin’s son, Julio Garcia, 26, who had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was also pronounced deceased.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Laborin was identified as the victim and Garcia as the suspect. The Central Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Officials stated that no additional suspects are believed to be involved and no further information will be released at this time.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Central Homicide Unit Investigator Cook at (951) 217–8847 or Perris Station Investigator Garcia-Flores at (951) 210–1000.
