Riverside County Sheriff investigates fatal shooting of Menifee teen in Wildomar

On the night of May 9, 2025, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 21000 block of Waite Street, Wildomar. When they arrived at approximately 10:28 p.m., they found a teenage male with gunshot wounds. Deputies attempted lifesaving measures before the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. A second adolescent male was also found with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Central Homicide Unit took over the investigation. The deceased has been identified as 16-year-old Naythan Vasquez from Menifee. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Central Homicide Unit is asking for public assistance in identifying those responsible. “The Central Homicide Unit is requesting the public’s assistance and encourages anyone with information to contact Investigator Joshua Manjarrez at 760–393–3530.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Central Homicide Investigator Gonzalez at (951) 955-2777 or Lake Elsinore Station Investigator Contreras at (951) 245-3300.
