The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 18 that it is investigating a homicide that occurred in Moreno Valley. Deputies responded to a local hospital on March 17 after a man was dropped off by a family member with injuries consistent with an assault. The victim, identified as Sean Street, age 38 and a resident of Moreno Valley, was pronounced dead by medical staff.

The case is significant for the community as it involves both the loss of life and the swift response from law enforcement. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies spoke with witnesses and determined that Street had been assaulted in the 14000 block of Big Horn Avenue by Brandon Thigpen, age 37, also of Moreno Valley.

Deputies secured the scene at Big Horn Avenue and continued their search for Thigpen. He was later located in Moreno Valley and taken into custody without incident. The Central Homicide Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Thigpen was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of murder. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.

The sheriff’s office encourages anyone with information about this incident to contact Central Homicide Unit Investigator Cook at (951) 955–2777 or Moreno Valley Station Investigator Acevedo at (951) 486–6700.
