The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 18 that it is investigating the death of a 23-year-old woman in Moreno Valley as suspicious. Deputies responded to a call about an unresponsive female on the 14000 block of Woodlark Lane at approximately 3:22 p.m. on March 17.

According to authorities, deputies found Elana Davis unresponsive and not breathing when they arrived. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

During their initial investigation, deputies learned that Davis had been involved in a physical altercation with a family member before losing consciousness and stopping breathing. Due to these circumstances, investigators from the Central Homicide Unit took over the case.

No arrests have been made, and officials say the investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office stated that no further information will be released at this time.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Central Homicide Unit Investigator Jimenez at (951) 955-2777 or Moreno Valley Station Investigator Gomez at (951) 486-6700. Media inquiries can be directed to the Media Information Bureau.
