The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jurupa Valley Station has announced a traffic safety operation focused on bicycle and pedestrian safety scheduled for September 9 in Jurupa Valley. Deputies will be targeting driving behaviors that pose risks to people biking or walking, including speeding, illegal turns, failing to yield or provide right of way to bicyclists or pedestrians, and not stopping for signs and signals.
“We all have places to be and not everyone gets there by car,” Deputy Anthony Armenta said. “Bicyclists and pedestrians have the same rights to the road but face even more risk without the protections vehicles have. We should all be looking out for one another.”
The department provided guidance aimed at reducing injuries and crashes involving drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
This program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
