The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in Moreno Valley will conduct a DUI checkpoint on August 15, 2025. The operation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at an undisclosed location.
Checkpoint sites are selected based on data that identifies areas with higher rates of impaired driving-related crashes. The goal is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Deputy Gabriel Constantin. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
The sheriff’s office also reminds residents that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from some prescription and over-the-counter medications. Although marijuana is legal for medicinal and recreational use in California, it remains illegal to drive under its influence.
A first-time DUI offense can result in fines and penalties averaging $13,500, along with a suspended driver’s license.
This program receives funding through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, which is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
