On October 9, 2025, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Special Investigation Bureau launched an investigation into a department employee following reports of possession of a stolen vehicle. The employee was identified as Deputy Dakota Robson, age 25.
According to the department, Robson was arrested in Lake Elsinore on October 9 without incident. He was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center and faces charges including vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and unauthorized computer access.
Robson joined the department in June 2023 and had been assigned to the Southwest Sheriff’s Station prior to his arrest. The Sheriff’s Office stated that Robson has been placed on paid administrative leave while an internal investigation is conducted.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details will be released. Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to call Deputy Koehler at the Special Investigation Bureau at 951–955–1700.”
