The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office – San Jacinto Station will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Friday, December 5, 2025. The operation will take place from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in San Jacinto.
Checkpoint locations are selected based on data that shows where impaired driving-related crashes have occurred. The main goal of these checkpoints is to increase public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
Sergeant Patrick Lynch stated, “Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk. Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”
The sheriff’s office also reminded the public that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from certain prescription and over-the-counter medications. Although marijuana use is legal for medicinal and recreational purposes, it remains illegal to drive under its influence.
First-time DUI offenders may face average fines and penalties totaling $13,500, along with a suspended license.
Funding for this program comes from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
