On December 17, 2025, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office carried out a targeted public safety enforcement operation at a park located in the 71000 block of San Jacinto Drive in Rancho Mirage. The operation involved deputies from the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team and Problem-Oriented Policing Team, working together with the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force.
The enforcement action was prompted by several complaints received from both the city’s Code Enforcement Division and members of the public about ongoing illegal activity at the park. According to officials, the main goal was to address concerns about quality of life and to keep the park safe for families and visitors.
During this operation, two individuals were arrested. Eriberto Santana, aged 45 and a resident of Thousand Palms, was taken into custody for lewd and lascivious acts in public. Kevin Winston, aged 62 and a resident of Rancho Mirage, was also arrested on similar charges. Both were booked at the John Benoit Detention Center.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office stated: “The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to maintaining public safety and deterring criminal activity, particularly in community spaces intended for families, children, and recreational use. These enforcement operations are conducted to preserve the quality of life for residents and visitors throughout Rancho Mirage and the greater Coachella Valley.”
Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding criminal activity in public spaces to contact their office. Deputy Nicholas Cazee at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station is handling inquiries related to this case.
