The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a $1,844,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to enhance its traffic enforcement and education programs. The funding aims to reduce serious injuries and fatalities on local roads and will support initiatives through September 2026.
“We are grateful to receive this grant, which will strengthen our traffic enforcement efforts and improve road safety,” said Sr. Administrative Services Analyst Sally Lopez. “Through a combination of education and enforcement efforts, our goal is to reduce dangerous driving behaviors, prevent crashes, and make our roads safer for everyone.”
The grant will be used for additional programs and resources focused on both enforcement and public education regarding safe driving practices.
“Through focused traffic enforcement and education, we’re working toward a future where everyone will be safe on California roads,” said OTS Director Stephanie Dougherty. “By encouraging people to prioritize safety in their daily choices, we are creating a strong road safety culture together.”
Funding for this program comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Several cities that contract with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office have also received awards as part of this initiative.
