The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jurupa Valley Station plans to conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) checkpoint in Eastvale on August 15, 2025. The checkpoint will take place from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM at an undisclosed location.
Checkpoint sites are selected based on data related to impaired driving crashes. The main goal of these checkpoints is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Deputy John Plager said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
Authorities remind residents that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from certain prescription and over-the-counter medications. Although marijuana use is legal for medicinal and recreational purposes in California, it remains illegal to drive under its influence.
First-time DUI offenders may face fines and penalties averaging $13,500, along with license suspension.
Funding for this operation comes from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
