The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in Jurupa Valley has announced that it will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Friday, December 12, 2025. The checkpoint will operate from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location.
Checkpoint sites are selected based on data related to impaired driving crashes. The main goal of these checkpoints is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the roads.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Sergeant Rafael Lopez. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
Authorities emphasized that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from some prescription and over-the-counter medications. They also noted that while marijuana use is legal for medicinal and recreational purposes, driving under its influence remains illegal.
Individuals charged with a first-time DUI may face average fines and penalties totaling $13,500, along with license suspension.
The program receives funding through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
