The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, San Jacinto Station, will conduct a DUI checkpoint on August 15, 2025. The checkpoint will operate from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in San Jacinto.
Checkpoint locations are selected based on data related to impaired driving incidents and crashes. The department stated the main goal is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the roads.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Sergeant Patrick Lynch said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”
The sheriff’s office also advised that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from certain prescription and over-the-counter medications. Additionally, while marijuana use may be legal for medicinal or recreational purposes, driving under its influence remains illegal.
Individuals arrested for a first-time DUI offense could face fines and penalties averaging $13,500 and have their license suspended.
Funding for this operation comes from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
