The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in Moreno Valley will conduct a DUI checkpoint on December 19, 2025. The checkpoint will take place from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at an undisclosed location.
Checkpoint locations are selected based on data related to impaired driving crashes. The department aims to improve public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Deputy Pablo Contreras. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
The sheriff’s office also reminded residents that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from some prescription and over-the-counter medications. Driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal, even though medicinal and recreational use is permitted in California.
Individuals convicted of a first-time DUI offense may face approximately $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with license suspension.
Funding for this operation comes from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
