As the community prepares to celebrate Independence Day, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is emphasizing safety. Fireworks are a staple of July 4th celebrations in America, but they also pose risks. Every year, injuries and property damage occur due to improper use of fireworks.
The Sheriff’s Office advises residents to attend professional fireworks displays instead of using fireworks at home. “Together, we can all enjoy a safe holiday!” they stated. In Riverside County, all fireworks are illegal, and their use can lead to significant personal and property risks.
Officials remind the public not to report fireworks to 9-1-1 unless there is an immediate threat to life or property. Such calls can overload emergency lines and delay response times for critical situations. Instead, illegal firework usage should be reported through an online form provided by the Sheriff’s Office.
