On Aug. 24, Sergeant Jeff Cryder of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that two suspects allegedly involved in several vehicle burglaries and vandalisms in the City of Rancho Mirage have been arrested by the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team. The Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team (SET) received assistance from the Indian Wells SET, Palm Desert SET, and BSU.

“During the month of August 2023, the Riverside Sheriff’s Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team investigated several vehicle burglaries and vandalisms in the city of Rancho Mirage,” Cryder wrote in an Aug. 24 press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. “The total value of property taken and damaged during the incidents exceeded $25,000. Manuel Guerra, a 34-year-old resident of Indio, and Osman Arellano, a 26-year-old resident of Coachella, were identified as suspects in the various incidents.”

According to the press release, Guerra and Arellano were located by authorities at a residence in the 78000 block of Savanna La Mar Drive in unincorporated Bermuda Dunes, leading to the arrest of Guerra at that location by Palm Desert Station personnel. Arellano was apprehended shortly after a vehicle pursuit that ended near Fred Waring Drive and Silverwood Drive in the city of Indio. A search warrant was executed at a residence within the 78000 block of Savanna La Mar Drive, resulting in the recovery of numerous stolen items and a firearm.

Both Guerra and Arellano were taken into custody and subsequently booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on various charges, including vehicle burglary, grand theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy, committing a felony while on bail, evading and illegal firearm possession.

Individuals possessing information pertaining to the burglaries and acts of vandalism are urged to get in touch with Deputy Paull at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station by dialing 760-578-4275.
