Riverside County Sheriff’s Department investigates cause of fatal golf cart traffic collision

On Aug. 29, Sergeant LaFond of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported authorities are investigating the death of a La Quinta man who died in a traffic collision while driving a golf cart. 

“On Monday, August 28, 2023, La Quinta deputies responded to a single-vehicle, major-injury traffic collision involving a golf cart just after 6:00 p.m,” according to the press release.

A report provided by Sergeant LaFond from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reveals that investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding a deadly traffic collision that transpired on Aug. 28 in La Quinta. According to the report, La Quinta deputies promptly responded to the single vehicle incident shortly after 6:00 pm, at the intersection of Trilogy Parkway and Desert Rose Drive. The incident involved a golf cart, and the driver of the cart was pronounced deceased at the location, as detailed in Sgt. LaFond’s report.

On Aug. 29, the Riverside County coroner identified the driver of the golf cart as 65-year-old Ralph II Quintana of La Quinta. An investigation into the cause of the accident has been assumed by deputies at the Thermal Station.

According to Sgt. LaFond, it is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors involved in the incident. No other injuries were reported in the accident.
