The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported a breakthrough in the Perris strip mall shooting in December that left a 29-year-old man dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Andre Williams, a 25-year-old from Las Vegas, has been identified as a suspect, the sheriff’s department reported in a release.

“On May 31, 2022, Williams who was previously in custody in a Riverside County Jail for unrelated charges, had the following charges added: Murder, two counts of Attempt Murder, and Use of a Firearm in the commission of Murder,” the sheriff’s department reported.

On the day of the shooting, deputies responded to a deadly weapon assault outside of a strip mall on North Perris Boulevard, the sheriff’s department reported. They arrived to find a man who was shot multiple times. The victim, 29-year-old Xavier Porter, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The investigation remains open due to the outstanding suspects, and no further information will be released at this time,” the sheriff’s department reported. “If anyone has information regarding this investigation, they are encouraged to call Investigator Munoz with the Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777due to the additional suspects outstanding.”
