The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, through its Norco Station, has announced plans to conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Driver’s License and Safety Checkpoint in the City of Norco. The checkpoint will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location.
According to the department, locations for DUI checkpoints are selected based on data related to impaired driving crashes. The stated goal is to improve public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
“The Norco Sheriff’s Station reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.”
The department notes that those convicted of a first-time DUI offense can expect fines and penalties averaging $13,500 along with a suspended license.
Funding for this program comes from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
