Deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary alarm early Thursday morning at the Lake Elsinore Senior Center, where they discovered a broken second-story window and vandalized interior.

As a result of their investigation, deputies arrested suspect Andrew Jimenez, who was found walking on East Lakeshore Drive near Main Street; a recent press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said. The senior center is located in the 400 block of East Lakeshore Drive.

“The investigation revealed the suspect, identified as Andrew Jimenez, a 46-year-old transient from Lake Elsinore, broke the window to the business, entered the building, vandalized the interior and fled prior to deputies’ arrival,” Sgt. Adrian Brazil said in the release. The deputies arrived at the scene at 2:41 a.m. in response to a burglary alarm.

Jimenez was charged with burglary and vandalism.

The senior center offers a range of recreational activities, educational programs and self-enrichment programs for people 55 and older, the facility’s website said. The center features a computer lab, billiard room, reading room, patio, dining hall and service kitchen as well.

Describing the case as under investigation, the Sheriff’s Department encourages anyone with further information to reach out to Deputy Christian Hibbler at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station by calling 951-245-3300.
