Riverside sheriff’s correctional deputy arrested for sexual battery and false imprisonment

A Riverside County Sheriff’s Correctional Deputy was arrested on March 7, 2026, in Jurupa Valley following an investigation into allegations of sexual battery and false imprisonment. The deputy, identified as 29-year-old Yash Patel, was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center.

Patel joined the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in July 2021 and was most recently assigned to the Robert Presley Detention Center. After his arrest, he was placed on paid administrative leave while an administrative investigation is conducted.

In a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office: “The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. Allegations of misconduct are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.”
