The Riverside Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to offer free online training sessions for ABC off-sale licensed businesses and their employees in Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, and Canyon Lake. This initiative is part of ABC’s Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs (LEAD) program.

The LEAD training aims to educate members of the alcoholic beverage industry about selling alcohol responsibly. It targets licensees, managers, and employees at convenience stores, liquor stores, gas stations, and similar establishments. The curriculum focuses on selling alcoholic beverages safely, legally, and responsibly while preventing sales to minors or intoxicated individuals. Additionally, it provides guidance on addressing illicit drug activity at licensed premises.

Captain Rayls expressed satisfaction with the initiative: “We’re pleased that ABC can offer this service to businesses in our community,” he said. “When alcohol is sold legally and safely, it can reduce underage drinking and increase public safety.”

ABC Chief Deputy Director Robles emphasized the program’s impact: “ABC’s free and effective LEAD program has educated thousands of licensees on alcoholic beverage laws, and how to operate a safe business,” he stated. “The program not only helps businesses understand their legal responsibilities but also provides them with the tools to act appropriately with their licensing privileges.”

This training is funded by a grant from ABC through its Alcohol Policing Partnership (APP) program.
