SBA to close disaster loan outreach centers in San Diego County

Francisco Sánchez Jr., the associate administrator for the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the Small Business Administration (SBA), announced that the SBA will close its San Diego and Spring Valley Disaster Loan Outreach Centers in San Diego County at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 23.

“SBA opened the centers to provide personalized assistance to California businesses and residents who were affected by the severe storm and flooding that occurred Jan. 21 – 23. Until the centers close, SBA customer service representatives will continue to be available to meet with businesses and residents to answer their questions, explain SBA’s disaster loan program and close their approved disaster loans,” said Sánchez.

Businesses and residents can meet with SBA representatives without an appointment at the specified times below:

While the deadline for applying for property damage loans has passed, small businesses including agricultural cooperatives engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations still have until Nov.19 to apply for an economic injury disaster loan.

Interest rates are set at four percent for businesses and three point two five percent for private nonprofit organizations, with terms up to 30 years. The SBA sets loan amounts and terms based on each applicant’s financial condition.

Applicants may apply online at SBA.gov/disaster or contact SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email [email protected] for more information on SBA disaster assistance. Telecommunications relay services are available for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability by dialing 7-1-1.

10 million grant awarded for Community Resilience Center in Coachella

The California Strategic Growth Council has granted the City of Coachella a $10 million Community Resilience Center (CRC) Implementation Grant. The funds will be used to convert an existing facility, previously known as Hidden Harvest on Peter Rabbit Lane, into the new Coachella Community Resilience Center.
