Three individuals were arrested following a weapons-related search warrant at a Coachella residence, leading to the seizure of two firearms—one reported stolen—ammunition, and suspected Fentanyl. Two of the arrestees are residents of Coachella, while the third hails from Thermal.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office disclosed in a press release that the search warrant was served on January 20, 2024, at 5 a.m. at a home located in the 85000 block of Cairo Street in Coachella. The arrested individuals, Pedro Gonzalez, 26, and Miguel Gonzalez, 46, both Coachella residents, surrendered without any incident.

As per the Riverside County Sheriff’s press release, this operation was a joint effort led by the Coachella Community Action Team. They were assisted by several teams including the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Team, the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force and the Emergency Services Team.

In further details provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s press release, law enforcement officers made contact with Giovanni Huerta, 28—a resident of Thermal—while serving the search warrant. Huerta had an active warrant due to his removal of his GPS monitoring device which is a violation of his parole terms.

The press release from Riverside County Sheriff’s Office also stated that all three subjects were booked at the John Benoit Detention Center. Pedro Gonzalez faced charges including possession of a stolen firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of narcotics and firearm together, child endangerment and committing a felony while out on bail. Miguel Gonzalez was charged with similar offenses such as possession of a stolen firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition and firearm. Huerta was booked for an active warrant for being on parole violation.
