The Senior Inspiration Awards will recognize 11 seniors for their volunteer work at a luncheon in Indian Wells on March 27, according to an announcement made on Mar. 17. The event, hosted by the mayors of Coachella Valley cities and County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, will take place at the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Conference Center.
The awards highlight the importance of community service among seniors and aim to inspire others to get involved in local organizations. Each year, more than 500 people attend the event, which not only honors individual contributions but also encourages broader participation in community activities.
This year’s honorees include Regina Caran and Pilar Funez (Riverside County), Michael Kocan (Cathedral City), Refugio Sanchez (Coachella), Daniel Coward (Desert Hot Springs), Greg Renker (Indian Wells), Raquel Harris (Indio), Kathleen O’Regan (La Quinta), Carla Sullivan-Dilley (Palm Desert), David Hyams (Palm Springs) and William Sachs (Rancho Mirage). Each honoree will donate $1,000 provided by the Regional Access Project Foundation to a charity of their choice. Tickets are available for $55 per person or $550 for a table of ten through Eventbrite or Supervisor Perez’s website.
Supervisor Perez said, “The Senior Inspiration Awards is an event that has an impact, inspiring us all to work towards making our communities better. It’s always a fun time, a beautiful occasion and seniors love it!” Lunch will include salad, chicken or vegetarian entrée upon request, dessert, and complimentary refreshments. Guests can arrive as early as 10 a.m. for activities such as a flower bar, game stations with prizes like lotería and dominoes, and giveaways before the luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.
Brooke Beare and Hernán Quintas will emcee the program. Those interested in sponsorship can contact Supervisor Perez’s office.
