A second suspect involved in the robbery of a woman in Thousand Palms in July was arrested by the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team on Wednesday, Aug. 23. Lucero Cagno, a 33-year-old resident of Indio was taken into custody and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center.

“During the investigation, deputies identified the second suspect involved in the robbery as Lucero Cagno, a 33-year-old resident of Indio,” Sergeant Jeff Cryder wrote in his report. “She was identified as one of the females who lured the victim to the vehicle. On August 23, 2023, the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team located and arrested Cagno in the City of Coachella. Cagno was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for robbery, conspiracy, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of an expandable baton.”

On Wednesday, the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team apprehended a second suspect implicated in the robbery of a woman that occurred in Thousand Palms in July, according to a press release from Sergeant Jeff Cryder of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Three suspects were involved in the robbery, and while this recent arrest has been made, authorities are still actively seeking the whereabouts of the third individual allegedly involved.

Cagno was identified as the second suspect in a robbery that took place on July 29. According to the report, the incident occurred in the area of Ramon Road and Thousand Palm Canyon Road, in Thousand Palms. The ensuing investigation determined that the victim was initially approached by a female suspect, now identified as Cagno, at a venue located in the 32200 block of Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage. Cagno allegedly enticed the victim into a vehicle situated in the parking lot. Two other suspects were present in the vehilce. The driver of the vehicle was described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic male with multiple tattoos covering his head and body, later identified as Nicholas Tyler Young, a 31-year-old resident of Palm Springs. The victim was taken to the area of Ramon Road and Thousand Palms Canyon Road, at which point Young used a black semi-automatic handgun to threaten the victim into surrendering all of her personal belongings.

Young was apprehended by the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team during a traffic stop on Aug. 2 in the parking lot of a business on Ramon Road in Cathedral City. He was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for a parole violation, robbery, and conspiracy. There was no update on the third suspect, who was described as a white female adult in her 40’s.
