Shooting suspect turns himself in after altercation in Hemet

Deputies from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station responded to a shooting on August 4, 2025, at approximately 9:20 PM in the unincorporated area of Hemet near the 41000 block of Highway 74. When deputies arrived, they found an adult male with gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital and was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

According to authorities, the incident began as an altercation between the victim and the suspect following a minor traffic collision. During this confrontation, deputies say that the suspect also attempted to rob the victim.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department identified Kenneth Green, age 27 and a resident of Hemet, as the suspect. Green reportedly left the scene before law enforcement arrived but later returned and surrendered himself at the crime scene. He was subsequently arrested and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and criminal threats.
