The Southwest Arts Festival commenced on Thursday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. The annual event, which features over 200 artists, is projected to attract more than 13,000 attendees this year.

According to a press release issued by the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce (GCVCC), the four-day festival displays a diverse range of traditional, contemporary and abstract art along with jewelry and crafts. It is open daily until January 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The admission price for the full four days is $25 if purchased in advance online and $30 if bought at the festival. Admission for seniors (55+) is $22 in advance or $25 at the gate. Children aged 12 and under can enter free of charge.

“This is one of our favorite events to share with the community, as it always receives rave reviews from our patrons and participating artists,” said Brandon Marley, CEO of GCVCC.

According to the same press release, GCVCC is hosting the event in partnership with the City of Indio. The festival’s title sponsor is BMW Performance Center West; presenting sponsors are Desert Urgent Care and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

“The caliber of talented artists and unique artwork, combined with interactive art displays, live music, and a variety of food and beverage options, make it a fun-filled weekend offering something for everyone,” Marley added.

“This is a really friendly festival. The people who come are happy, enjoying the weather and a fun experience. The artists are a great mix of local and out-of-town artists, and it’s so enjoyable seeing and working with other artists I’ve met over the years,” said Indio artist Chris Curry whose artwork won the festival’s 2024 poster contest.
