An off-duty Indio firefighter from the 16th Battalion sustained major injuries Sunday during a collision while riding his motorcycle.

B. Kelly "was treated and transported by his firehouse crew to the local trauma center with major injuries," according to an Instagram post by his battalion at the Indio Fire Department.

"Today, one of our own was injured while off duty," the post said. "[He] was involved in a collision while riding his motorcycle ... At the request of his family, friends, and coworkers, please keep BK in your thoughts and prayers."

The battalion thanked Desert Regional Hospital for exceptional treatment, @indiopolicedepartment for support and assistance, and @palmspringsfire for hospitality and professionalism.

The crash occurred on Sunday before 10 a.m. on Monroe Street in an area north of Requa Drive, according to KESQ

Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department said that a motorcycle and a vehicle collided. Officials are investigating the circumstances of the accident, KESQ reported. Everyone involved is cooperating with the investigation and drugs and/or alcohol were not factors in the crash, according to Guitron. He said on Monday that Kelly remains in the ICU in stable condition.
