Pedestrian killed in 'hit-and-run vehicle collision' in Palm Springs, police looking for red Porsche

In an update on the hit-and-run collision Friday that killed a pedestrian, Palm Springs Police Department have identified a possible suspect's vehicle as a red Porsche 911 Carrera years 2012-2016. The public is asked to come forward with any information as the investigation continues. 

On Friday about 6:40 a.m., the Palm Springs Police Department received several calls regarding a pedestrian lying in the dirt shoulder near E. Palm Canyon Drive and S. Broadmoor Drive. 

Upon arrival, officers pronounced the victim deceased and determined that they had lost their life due to a hit-and-run collision, according to the department on Facebook

"The roadway will be subject to closure while the Palm Springs Police Department (PSPD) Traffic Division investigates the collision," the Facebook post said. 

Due to the investigation, the roadway around this area was temporarily shut down, NBC Palm Springs said in an article regarding the death. NBC Palm Springs said Friday that the road would remain closed until further notice.

The police department's Facebook post offered no details regarding a potential suspect, while also being silent on the identity of the pedestrian.
