Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department charged three teens with felonies after recently responding to a home invasion robbery in which a City of Perris homeowner wrestled a suspect's gun away, the department said.

"The reporting party stated a male suspect entered their residence with a handgun and pistol whipped and assaulted the homeowner demanding money. The homeowner was able to wrestle the gun away from the suspect during the assault," Deputy Sgt. Dave Tinker said in a news release.

When deputies from the Perris Sheriff's Station arrived at the victim's home in the 3000 block of Avishan Drive on Wednesday, May 25, they found the homeowner injured and bleeding, but still restraining the male suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Cameran Deneal.

Upon further investigation, deputies learned there were two females involved in the robbery that fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement, the news release said. In a search of the neighborhood, Perris Traffic Motor units found the females hiding nearby.

Though transported to a local hospital with moderate head injuries, the victim is expected to make a full recovery, the news release said.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Perris Station’s Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team (RBST), which processed the house for evidence and conducted interviews, according to the release. The Perris Station RBST learned that the two female suspects were acquaintances of the homeowner they attempted to rob and had come to the house under the guise of talking to him, authorities said.

One of the female suspects provided a false name and date of birth indicating she was an adult, but RBST discovered she was only 16 years old. According to the release, the second female suspect was identified as 19-year-old Elizabeth Gutierrez.

All three suspects have been charged with several felonies, but the adults, Deneal and Gutierrez, were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center (CBDC) while the juvenile was booked into the Southwest Juvenile Hall.

Deputies have determined this home invasion robbery appears to be an isolated incident.
