Cathedral City's planning commission held a public hearing on a request to construct a five-pump gas station with a 174-square-foot kiosk on a 0.65-acre lot.

The Kroger fuel station, as it's called on the conditional use permit, was approved during the meeting, Cathedral City reported on its site.

"The applicant, Ralph Deppisch representing Sage Victoria CC, LLC and Kroger, submitted a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) application on December 16, 2021 for the construction of a fuel station with an attendant kiosk on an approximately 0.65-acre site located at the southeast corner of Date Palm Drive and Victoria Drive," Cathedral City reported. "The project will be affiliated with the existing Food 4 Less grocery store located in the Cathedral City Marketplace shopping center, diagonally opposite the project site."

The kiosk will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., selling products such as candy, cigarettes and nonalcoholic beverages, Cathedral City reported.

"The project will be affiliated with the existing Food 4 Less grocery store located in the Cathedral City Marketplace shopping center, diagonally opposite the project site," Cathedral City reported.

There will be four parking spaces constructed on the lot, with Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant parking and pathways, Cathedral city reported. The project also includes the construction of a new 6-foot-high wall along Eagle Canyon Drive and part of Victoria Drive, as well as a new sidewalk and a ramp.
