Riverside and San Bernardino public health team up to host 'Home Run for Health'; event returns after two-year hiatus

Riverside University Health System and San Bernardino County Public Health together are going to bat for the community with "Home Run for Health," back after two years of COVID delays.

"We're Here for Your Health" is the theme of this year's event to take place on Thursday, according to Riverside University Health System and San Bernardino County Public Health in a joint release.

The event is a baseball game between the Inland Empire 66ers and the Lake Elsinore Storm to take place at San Manuel Stadium, located at 280 South E St. in San Bernardino.

"We are looking forward to seeing fans at the ballpark," Riverside University Health System— Public Health Director Kim Saruwatari said in the joint statement, "We'd love to have them visit with our staff in the concourse area throughout the game, where we will be sharing our information about the many public health resources available to the residents of Riverside and San Bernardino counties."

The goal of the event is "to share positive health messages with fans as they enjoy the evening watching the baseball game among family, friends and co-workers," the joint statement said.

“Public health has always emphasized the importance of collaboration amongst partners to provide services and resources to our community," San Bernardino County Public Health Director Josh Dugas said.

Those interested in attending should secure vouchers for free admission to the game while supplies last. One voucher may be redeemed for two tickets. Families are limited to three vouchers or six tickets total. 

Residents who wish to receive a voucher can sign up online at this link. Alternatively, vouchers are available for pickup at the Riverside University Health System—Public Health Health Administration Building located at 4065 County Circle Drive in Riverside. Vouchers also can be picked up at the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health Education Office at 340 N. Mountain View Ave. in San Bernardino.

While the vouchers are free, parking will cost $10 a vehicle.
