The Organized Neighborhoods of Palm Springs (ONE-PS), in partnership with the Palm Springs Cultural Center, will host a series of City Council candidate forums from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 1-2 at the Palm Springs Cultural Center.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with ONE-PS on these important forums,” Michael C. Green, executive director of the Palm Springs Cultural Center, said in a recent press release. "Both of our organizations share the same goals of community outreach and education on important issues.”
Candidates for Palm Springs City Council Districts 1, 2 and 3 will participate; as will candidates for the contested races for the Palm Springs School Board, the Desert Water Agency Board and the Desert Healthcare District; the release said. Mark Talkington, editor of The Palm Springs Post, will be the moderator.
“All roads lead to the Cultural Center,” Bob Farran, Events chair for ONE-PS, said in the release. “Our neighborhood leaders for our 51 organized neighborhoods will be working together to make these forums a success.”
The current plan is for the candidate forums for City Council District 3 and the other contested races to be held on Oct. 1 and the forums for City Council Districts 1 and 2 to be held on Oct. 2.
The forums will feature questions from the community that have been reviewed prior to the event as well as questions from the audience. To submit a question, email it to Questions@ONE-PS.org.
ONE-PS is a network of Palm Springs neighborhoods that gives voice to the concerns of local community members by seeking practical solutions and transparency through two-way communication between organized neighborhoods and City officials, the group said on its website. It holds an open meeting each month that includes representatives of each certified neighborhood, ONE-PS officers and committee members, City Council members, public safety officers, the City manager, the mayor and representatives from various agencies.
