Officials from Palm Springs invited community members to join the city's emergency manager for a disaster preparedness expo on Sept. 29.

Attendees will learn about important emergency and disaster skills, according to the event calendar on the city’s website. The expo is being held in connection with Emergency Preparedness Month, which is observed in September each year.

"Join the city's emergency manager for a disaster preparedness expo, and enjoy discounts on important emergency and disaster preparedness products on Thursday, Sept. 29, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Home Depot, 5200 Ramon Rd., Palm Springs," city officials said in a Twitter post.

Residents can learn about steps to take in an emergency and how to use products needed in an emergency or disaster.

The city also is highlighting No Community Left Behind, a Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network program, a post on the website noted. Training sessions will be offered for free to the public. The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Dec. 1.
