Riverside County DA files charges against Palm Springs man

Charges were filed against a Palm Springs man accused of a deadly shooting that occurred in Desert Hot Springs in November.

The Riverside County District Attorney's Office filed charges against 31-year-old Richard Douglas Taylor, Jr. on Dec. 13, according to a Facebook post from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department (DHSPD). Taylor was arrested on Dec. 8 after detectives "executed numerous search warrants related to the investigation." He was in custody at the Riverside County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail as of Dec. 13, charged with murder and enhancements related to the use of a firearm during a felony. 

Taylor was allegedly involved in a shooting in Desert Hot Springs, the Facebook post noted. The incident occurred on Nov. 25 at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Cactus Drive. Police officers located a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds when they arrived on the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene despite attempted life-saving measures.

Taylor pled not guilty to the murder charge, according to KESQ. He previously pled not guilty to a felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor count of willfully resisting in February 2014, court records noted.
