The Imperial Irrigation District has issued the following press release:

Imperial Irrigation District announces the reopening of its “Tree for All” program for a final drive-thru tree distribution event in 2022.

In collaboration with the Coachella Valley Association of Governments and the City of Indio, the next free IID Tree for All event will be held on Thursday, December 22 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Indio Water Authority Corporate Yard, 83101 Avenue 45 in Indio.

IID Coachella Valley electric customers must reserve the tree while supplies last by visiting www.iid.com/treeforall. Customers will receive a reservation confirmation and must bring identification that matches the customer address on file to pick up their tree.

IID’s Tree for All program, implemented in November of this year, has provided customers and the community with approximately 1,000 new shade trees.

“The Tree for All program has proven wildly successful and has garnered significant customer interest,” said IID Division 2 Director JB Hamby. “IID is proud to provide this service to our customers to help them save money on energy costs and also to enhance our communities through the many environmental benefits of trees.”

IID's 2023 Tree for All program budget has been approved. The district plans to hold two program sessions with one scheduled in the spring and the other in the fall. Program funding is provided through the Public Benefits Charge.
