The Desert Hot Springs Police Department (DHSPD) continues to investigate a burglary committed at a retail cannabis shop earlier this month.

Two suspects were apprehended and one remains at large, according to a Facebook post by the DHSPD. An arrest on Monday put an unnamed man from Hemet behind bars; his bail was set at $1 million. He was charged with burglary and being a felon and gang member in possession of a firearm.

Detectives got a break in the case when they located the suspect vehicle traveling in the city of Hemet at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Monday, the Facebook post noted. The detectives engaged in a "high-risk" vehicle stop in the city of San Jacinto. They initially detained both occupants of the vehicle – an adult male and an adult female from Hemet. The detectives served a search warrant on the vehicle and located a loaded handgun that was reported stolen during a recent residential burglary. Approximately $2,000 worth of stolen products from the burglary at the cannabis shop were also confiscated. The stopped vehicle resulted in charges against the man only. He was transported to Desert Hot Springs and booked into the Riverside County Jail.

The burglary occurred on Dec. 18. at approximately 3 a.m., according to the Facebook post. Police officers saw three adult male suspects flee from the business on foot during the incident and chased them. Officers arrested one of the suspects, an unnamed man from Perris, after a foot pursuit. He was booked at Riverside County Jail on numerous charges. The other two men evaded arrest, but patrol officers identified a vehicle that they suspected was involved in the crime. DHSPD detectives then took over the investigation.

The suspect who was detained on the day of the burglary was released on a $25,000 bail bond the same day, KESQ reported. He is expected to make his first court appearance on Jan. 27. Detective Sgt. Christopher Saucier from the DHSPD said the third suspect remains at large.
